Other decisions taken by AIFF

January 15, 2013 might become one of the most ‘controversial’ days in the history of Indian football. The governing body of Indian football, All India Football Federation (AIFF), has taken a ‘decision’, which eventually changed the fate of Mohun Bagan. For a couple of days, rumor had been spreading that AIFF might reduce Mohun Bagan’s two and a half years ban from I-League. But yesterday’s decision was something more bigger, something more surprising than any hardcore Mohun Bagan fan would have expected.

Yes, Mohun Bagan is going to start the ‘second innings’ of their I-League campaign from January 20 against Salgaocar.

Not only was it one of the most ‘controversial days, it was also AIFF’s ‘decision making day’. Let’s take a look on the other decisions take by AIFF’s executive committee members yesterday:

- AIFF has announced East Bengal as the winner of the derby of December 9 by a 3-0 scoreline.

- In the next season, two I-League clubs will get huge money to set up stadiums and their infrastructures. Also, two teams might be relegated after this season.

- The international match between India and Palestine on February 6 will held in Kochi, instead of Guwahati.

- After getting pressure from AIFF’s marketing partner IMG-Reliance, the federation has given permission to host franchisee based IPL style football from the 2013-14 season.

- To make some new infrastructure, the federation will make a task-force, which will always be in contact with IMG-Reliance.

- Federation president Praful Patel will meet with FIFA president Sepp Blatter in the FIFA executive committee members meeting, which will be held in Zurich on March 20-21, and he will try his best to get an assurance from Blatter to host the U-17 FIFA World Cup here in India.
