Patrice Evra: Sir Alex told me that I would become a great coach

Sir Alex tipped Evra and Giggs to become top coaches in the future

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has revealed how Sir Alex tipped him to become a great coach in the future.

The French international who is enjoying a great season with Juventus is already thinking about his future. Evra believes he has a lot to contribute post retirement and coaching is something he is very passionate about since his Manchester United days.

Speaking to Canal+, he said: "There are strange feelings now that I didn't have at the start. Ferguson, before he left, called me into his office. He said to me, 'Pat, I'm going to tell you something very important. There are two players who'll be great coaches in this team, that's Ryan Giggs and you.'

"I have passed some of the badges as a coach in Manchester. I do everything slowly. I want to get my coaching badges. We'll see after that."

Sir Alex, who is renowned for encouraging his players to complete their coaching badges during his tenure at Manchester United has helped kick-start the managerial careers of Steve Bruce, Mark Hughes, Bryan Robson and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Meanwhile Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have also established themselves as assistant coaches at Manchester United and England, respectively.
