Pedro Chirivella :The Next Xabi Alonso?

Pedro Chirivella is being touted as the next Xabi Alonso

The Spain U-18 is reportedly being monitored by the Galacticos . He is already being compared to his idol Xabi Alonso . He was signed by Liverpool from Valencia a year ago when he was 16, beating off competition from Madrid and Barcelona as they struck a compensation deal for a bargain £200,000 . He has been training with the first team this season.The holding midfielder has figured in Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League squads also where Madrid have tracked his progress.

Chirivella was signed by former academy director Frank McParland, now at Brentford, who nicknamed the 17-year-old ‘the computer’ for his ability to select the right pass and read the game. He is on a four year deal at Liverpool and is highly regarded.European champions Madrid are on a recruitment drive aimed at improving the quality in their youth set-up. The young midfielder plays central midfielder but is equally capable of playing attacking midfield as well .

For the Spanish Youth teams:

The holding midfielder started out at the Spanish outfit's youth set-up at the age of seven and remained there until U16 level. Pedro, who was the U16 Spanish international captain throughout 2012-13, operates in the classic No.6 midfield role. The youngster possesses fantastic vision and can read the game brilliantly.He's a fine passer, who is constantly picking up the pieces in midfield and keeping the young Reds ticking over.

For Liverpool Youth teams:

Much of the play goes through Chirivella - and he's a player who the Academy coaches are looking forward to watching develop at the club.He made his Liverpool debut alongside fellow new Spanish recruit Sergi Canos as a substitute on 23 July 2013, in an U18s 4-1 pre-season friendly victory over Birmingham. Chirivella tasted success early in his Liverpool career, as he captained the U17 side that lifted the Milk Cup Globe during July/August 2013.

Chirivella has been made to wait to appear competitively for the Reds, with the club waiting for international clearance.Chirivella's clearance arrived in time for the midfielder to make his competitive debut against Southampton, in a 3-3 draw on 26 October 2013. Chirivella impressed in his debut season for the U18s, scoring three goals in 17 appearances. He quickly became involved with the U21s, and made four appearances for the team during their season .

Should Real Madrid be able to acquire him , another player player will be added to their impressive roster of youth players . On the other hand Liverpool should try to keep him at Anfield . Who knows , could he be the next Alonso or even Gerrard?
