Pepe expects Zinedine Zidane to stay at Real Madrid for many years

Zinedine Zidane with Pepe at training

In an interview to Sky Sports’ AM Soccer programme, Real Madrid central defender Pepe said that Coach Zinedine Zidane “oozes football” and that he has got so much experience to bring to the field. He praised Zidane for his very well disciplined and clarity about what he wants and how to make it work on the field. “When we do specific work with him in training, he's always in the right place to put in the final pass. He looks after himself. He oozes football - it runs through his veins,” he said.

He went on to talk about how he was just a normal person outside the field but had to defend his team with whatever he has got on the pitch. Pepe claimed that it was his responsibility to all the people who followed them. “I don't like to be beaten in a move, just like forwards don't like missing a chance on goal,” he elucidated.

Apart from this the defender said that his character was strong as a player and that no coach had ever told him to calm down. Coaches usually need a player with his determination on the field as whatever he does on the pitch is to help the team. “I think I'm the centre-back with the fewest yellow cards in the league and the least fouls committed,” Pepe said.

Pepe had previously stated that boss Zinedine Zidane will remain with Real Madrid and develop into one of the top coaches in world football. "I think he could be coach here at Real for many years to come. He loves football, he lives for it, has an outstanding knowledge and has a bright managerial future in front of him,” he had said.

On asked whether he would fancy playing at Chelsea, he said that he would never play at Chelsea as he was very happy at Madrid. He had mentioned that Diego Costa was his trickiest rival.

Pepe said that if he hadn’t become a footballer, he would have probably become a driver just like his Dad. He narrated how his Dad was exactly like him and how he always wanted to be like him in terms of personality, “It's a nice job and I'm very proud of my father, for all he has done for me to make me who I am,” he concluded.
