Phil Neville admits Marouane Fellaini needs to improve

Manchester United coach and former player Phil Neville believes Marouane Fellaini needs to start experiencing the winning feeling at United.

Fellaini has struggled to make much of an impact on the club since his £28 million transfer from Everton in the summer transfer window.

A wrist injury that will require surgery has not helped his problems, either, and for a player who found the net fairly regularly at Everton, he is yet to score for his new club.

However, with Phil Jones suspended and Michael Carrick injured, the game against his former employers this week is the perfect opportunity for him to stamp his mark on David Moyes’ United side.

Neville is not concerned, though.

“What is important for Marouane now is to play well in a match we win and he scores a goal,” Neville told the Manchester Evening News.

“He needs to experience that feeling when you are part of a team that wins.

“It is fine having that feeling when you are part of a squad but it is great to have it when you are part of a team that wins.

“He (also) needs to start scoring from midfield. There is nobody better at that than Felli.

“The United fans have not seen the best of him. When he came he wasn’t fully match fit but we are getting him fitter to play for United and be that box-to-box player.

“But we have every faith in him and we are really relaxed about it.”
