Qatar has revealed that the nation is keen to deliver air-conditioned stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to lessen the impact of the sweltering summer temperature.

Qatar is also open to switch the event to winter but said that they are still committed to the bid they made.

“We bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in summer and are fully committed and working hard to deliver on these promises,” Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee said.

“If the international football community asks us to move the timetable for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar we are able to do so, but the development and implementation of environmentally-friendly cooling technologies remains an important legacy issue for our nation, region and many countries with similar climates,” the committee added.

Meanwhile, UEFA and FIFA said that the member countries have not fully committed to a winter tournament which might force Qatar to speed up the master plan for air-conditioned stadiums.
