Rayo Vallecano 2-3 Real Madrid: Player ratings

Rayo Vallecano
Rayo took a surprise 2-0 lead over Real

Real Madrid came back from 2-0 down to beat Rayo Vallecano 2-3 at the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano courtesy a brace from Gareth Bale and a goal from Lucas Vazquez.

The Welshman stepped up in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and made sure that his side stays in contention for the La Liga title. But apart from Bale, the other Real Madrid players hardly made an impact in the match.

Let us take a look at the player ratings for all the players from last night’s match.

Rayo Vallecano

Juan Carlos - 5/10

The goalkeeper was badly let down by his team’s defence and during the course of the third goal, he could have done much better to stop Bale’s shot from going in.

Jose Crespo - 5.5/10

Crespo had a decent match on the left side but he failed to keep Danilo at bay as his overlapping runs tested Crespo a lot and led to the equaliser scored by Lucas Vazquez.

Antonio Amaya - 5.5/10

Amaya should have been sent-off after getting booked earlier in the match. He made sure that Jese didn’t get any space to have his sights on the goal and kept him and Isco at bay.

Tito - 5/10

Tito had a decent first half as he troubled Marcelo down the right wing but faded away as the match went on. He was eventually substituted in the second half.

Roberto Trashorras - 3/10

Trashorras was at fault for the third goal as he gave away the ball with ease which led Gareth Bale to take the lead. He struggled to keep up with the pace of the game.

Jozabed - 5/10

Jozabed provided his team some stability both in attack and defence but he was booked and was taken off immediately.

Adri Embarba - 6/10

Embarba opened the scoring for Rayo with a superb finish and was keeping the Madrid defenders on their toes.

Pablo Hernandez - 6/10

Hernandez was brilliant with the ball and involved in few counter attacks. His work-rate was too good but was unfortunately substituted later in the game.

Quini - 4.5/10

The player was at fault for Vazquez’s equaliser and was very poor inside his own box throughout the game.

Bebe - 6/10

Bebe made some brilliant runs on the wings and set up the Embarba’s goal by owning Pepe. He also had some long range shots that were saved by Keylor Navas.

Miku - 7/10

Miku had a brilliant match as he made sure that he had Real Madrid’s defence on high alert. His instinct to get to the ball for Rayo’s second goal was good.

Substitutes:

Javi Guerra - 3/10

Guerra nothing since coming on and let Madrid off their hook that allowed them to attack more.

Manuel Ittura - 5/10

Ittura struggled to get going after he replaced Jozabed in the 54th minute of the game.

Razvan Rat - N/A

Razvan Rat came in very late and it was difficult for him to create an impact in the limited time he got.

Real Madrid

Gareth Bale
Gareth Bale was the star of the show for Madrid

Keylor Navas - 5.5/10

After the first two goals, Navas saved a couple of shots from the Rayo forwards. But he could have reacted in a better way for the two goals and eased the pressure off his teammates.

Danilo - 5.5/10

Danilo was at fault on a few occasions on the defensive front. But attacking wise, he provided a lot to the team including the assist for Lucas Vazquez’s equaliser.

Pepe - 5.5/10

The Portuguese defender was caught out of position on few occasions and that allowed Rayo to get in behind him. Later in the game, his interceptions and blocks inside the box saved the day for his team.

Raphael Varane - 5/10

The Frenchman had a match to remember as his awful defending during a corner allowed Miku to score Rayo’s second goal. Overall, Varane had a shocker of a game as he was committed a lot of defensive errors.

Marcelo - 4.5/10

Real Madrid’s stand-in captain never looked good in last night’s match as he didn’t contribute to the team on both defensive and attacking fronts. His link-up play on the left side was missing.

Mateo Kovacic - 4/10

Kovacic was handed a rare start but the Croat failed to utilise it well. Though he created few chances, his inability to win balls in the midfield was exposed. He was booked before he was taken off by Zinedine Zidane.

Toni Kroos - 4.5/10

Just like the other players, it was a night to forget for the German international as he failed to stamp his authority in the midfield and failed to put forward a single pass that could have been a chance for his forwards to score.

Isco - 5.5/10

Isco looked good with his touches but he lacked the decision-making ability on numerous occasions as he failed to pass the ball whenever needed and went on with the dribble just to lose the ball to his opponent.

Gareth Bale - 9/10

Real Madrid’s best player on the pitch. Gareth Bale was expected to step up his game in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Welshman exactly did that as he helped his team complete a comeback. He scored two goals and looked threatening with his pace and crosses.

Jese - 3.5/10

Easily Real Madrid’s worst player on the pitch as he messed up several chances that were served to him. He looked shaky with the ball and was substituted in the dying minutes of the game.

Karim Benzema - 4/10

Benzema's link-up play with the midfield was poor in the very few minutes he spent on the pitch. He was taken off as a precaution in the first half and was replaced by Vazquez.

Substitutes:

Lucas Vazquez - 8/10

Vazquez into the pitch in the first half as a replacement for Karim Benzema and looked good till the final whistle. He scored Real Madrid’s second goal and backed Gareth Bale’s performance with a good display of his own.

Luka Modric - 5/10

The Croatian wizard came on as a replacement for Toni Kroos and was completely miserable till the final whistle.

James Rodriguez - N/A

The Colombian midfielder came in very late and it was difficult for him to create an impact in the limited time he got.
