What's the story?

According to the Spanish media outlet Sport, FC Barcelona outcast, Sergi Samper, is set to join Andres Iniesta and David Villa at Japanese club, Vissel Kobe with the view of reviving his injury-ridden career in a new league.

According to the report, the midfielder will sign a four-year-long deal with the Japanese outfit.

In case you didn't know..

The 24-year-old midfielder, who broke out in the first team of FC Barcelona in 2016, was loaned out at Spanish outfits, Granada CF and UD Las Palmas until he finally returned to the club last winter.

The Spaniard has won five titles with the Catalan giants including a La Liga and a Champions League title. However, he wasn't used much in those successful campaigns.

The defensive midfielder has frozen at the Camp Nou as he has managed to play just 33 minutes of this season's football.

The heart of the matter

Sergi Samper was tipped to be a long-term successor of compatriot, Sergio Busquets, at the Camp Nou. However, his injury-hit career has changed everything to worse for the youngster.

The 24-year-old was sidelined for the better part of his loan-spell with Las Palmas due to injuries.

Coming to his rescue is Japanese club, Vissel Kobe, as they are offering him a chance to breathe life back into the career which has been hit by injuries. The Japanese outfit picked up their first three points of the season against Sagan Tosu, the new home of Fernando Torres.

Rumour possibility: 8/10

This season, the Spanish midfielder has had three different injuries, forcing him to miss 22 games for the Spanish giants. With the deep squad depth within the Barca midfield, it is next to impossible for the Spaniard to revive his career at the Camp Nou.

Which means that this story from Sport could very close to the truth.

What's next?

Sergi Samper will look to revive his career in a new league and a new country. With Iniesta and David Villa already playing there, the Spaniard will take less time to settle with the squad.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, Vissel Kobe just needs to agree on personal terms with the Spaniard and pen a contract for the coming seasons.
