Robin Singh’s ISL stint has resembled the proverbial sine curve so far. From netting the winner on debut to being publicly criticised by coach Roberto Carlos after loss to Mumbai City FC, the India international’s fortunes have swayed in his short tenure in the second edition of the Hero ISL.

Last night against defending champions Atletico de Kolkata too, Robin again seemed a little off colour. Having said that, the Delhi Dynamos beat their illustrated opponents for the first time in three attempts and that seemed to have buoyed the local boy.

In a chat with the media after the game, he seemed elated, “Three points is what we came for, and that is quite exactly what we got. We didn’t want to feel the way we did in Mumbai. We were highly motivated and by god’s grace, we won. Thanks to Gustavo’s goal, we won.”

About the franchisee’s ascend to the top of the table, he said, “It’s a great feeling. But it’s not over until the fat lady sings. I want us to be the champions this season. I hate to lose matches. So it feels good to be back to winning ways.”

Interestingly the Lions, as they like to refer to themselves were reduced to 10-men after Shouvik was sent off for a second bookable offence. The team however did not seem perturbed and instead put the pressure back on the hosts. Commenting upon that, Robin added, “Hats off to the boys! We took the red card on our chin and we just kept going and thankfully, by the end of the game, we got three points. We take it forward from here, focus on the next game at home, and thereafter.”

The next game interestingly is a home fixture for them, their first since October 8 when they beat Chennaiyi. This time they are up against the highlanders from North East. When asked about the prospect of playing in front of his home crowd, the striker sounded optimistic, “It’s always a great pleasure to play in Delhi, in front of the home crowd. I’m sure the stadium is going to be packed after this game, so we can’t wait for the next one.”

As buoyant as he seems, its imperative for him to start scoring, if the Dynamos are to have any chance at lifting the title and needless to say, the tall starlet is aware of that, “Unfortunately, I haven’t been scoring. But you never know when that one goal would come. When the floodgates open up, they open up.”
