Robin van Persie gives away his 3rd place medal to a Dutch fan.

After the Netherlands’ 3-0 win over Brazil that helped them claim the 3rd spot at FIFA World Cup 2014, captain Robin van Persie decided to gift his medal and captain’s armband to one of the most passionate Dutch fans.

The country’s all-time record goalscorer presented his medal to a fan named Winfried Witjes - also referred to as ‘the Oranje General’ by the Dutch fans. Wities, a clothing store manager, hasn’t missed a Netherlands game in this World Cup campaign and remains one of the most dedicated fans that you would come across during the World Cup. He leads the Oranje Army at every Dutch game and has attained a celebrity status in his homeland over the years.
