According to El Nacional, former Barcelona attacker Bojan Krkic has been offered a chance to return to the club by president Joan Laporta.

Bojan was one of the brightest La Masia prospects during his time as a youngster. He made 163 appearances for the senior team as well, scoring 41 goals and providing 19 assists.

The Spaniard was a crucial part of the team during the Pep Guardiola era. He recently hung up his boots, bidding adieu to the beautiful game.

Bojan, however, could be on course for a return to the Catalan club. Joan Laporta addressed his retirement, saying:

"Bojan is part of Barça's history. The surname Krkic is part of the club's history because of your football imprint. Bojan is part of Barça's history. Father and son, because of your commitment to the shield. Bojan has been a special player. We will remember it for this Linyola player who came and broke all the records at La Masia."

He added:

"As president, to tell you that Barça is your home and will continue to be. I had the honor of signing your first professional contract and I can say thank you for what you have given us and see you soon . It would be an honor to have you here joining us."

The former Barcelona player could now return as a member of the club's committee in grassroots football.

Following Jordi Cruyf's retirement, there is a vacancy for the assistant sporting director role and if he returns to the club, Bojan could work closely with Mateu Alemany as well.

Which trophies did Bojan Krkic win with Barcelona?

During his time at La Masia, Bojan Krkic was often regarded to have talent on par with Lionel Messi. While the Spaniard never quite met the lofty expectations, he still had a trophy-laden spell at the Camp Nou.

Bojan won a total of 11 trophies with Barcelona, including two UEFA Champions League titles and three La Liga trophies. He also played for clubs like Stoke City, AS Roma, Ajax Amsterdam, AC Milan, and more during his career.

The 32-year-old's last club was Vissel Kobe in Japan, where he shared the pitch with former Barca teammate Andres Iniesta.
