Rumour: Liverpool to bid for Inter Milan's Mateo Kovacic

According to the Metro, Liverpool are preparing a bid for Inter’s young star, Mateo Kovacic, after his agent expressed his unhappiness.

Kovacic, 19, was expected to have a big future at Inter but things haven’t really gone to plan. He has been in and out of the team and currently has no explanation for why he can’t get into the side.

Due to this confusion, he is allegedly unhappy which has alerted Liverpool who may be interested in making him an £8 million summer signing.

The Reds’ transfer policy means they target young, cheap talents who have struggled at a previous club but have clear talent that can be coached to reach its potential. Kovacic seems to fit that exact demand and could make the move to the Premier League over the summer.

Kovacic’s agent refused to confirm the talk this week but he has revealed his client is unhappy, telling reporters: “Everybody is confused as to why Mateo is not playing.

“Is there a row with Mazzarri I can’t say a lot, but he is not happy.”

Liverpool are currently embroiled in a title race – their first for five years so focus is totally on that at the moment. However, one eye is sure to be on Kovacic’s situation.
