Nani might be in the thick of things if van Gaal ends up in charge at Old Trafford

Incoming Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, has reportedly put the brakes on the impending departure of Nani to Italian champions Juventus.

The Portuguese winger has had a tough time in recent seasons for the Red Devils and despite being rewarded with a new five-year contract during David Moyes’ spell, but Nani has been heavily linked with moves away from the club and it seems Juventus were set to agree a fee in the region of £10million for his services.

However, Louis van Gaal has different plans and with the Dutchman set to become the next manager of Manchester United, his reported preference for wingers, means he does not want to lose Nani before he takes charge after the World Cup.

According to the Mirror, Nani will be open to staying put at the Theatre of Dreams if van Gaal makes it clear to the Portugal international that he has a future at the club. Van Gaal faces a race against time with Nani aiming to complete a move before the World Cup, however the Dutchman will be busy with his Netherlands side preparing for the same tournament.

Nani has failed to deliver on a consistent basis since signing for Manchester United and plenty of fans believe it is now time for the winger to move on to pastures new.
