Salman Khan has become the latest Bollywood star to show interest in the Indian Super League. According to a TOI report, the former AIFF ambassador is part of a Mumbai consortium that has picked up the bid documents to purchase an ISL team.

“After Ranbir (Kapoor) and Abhishek (Bachchan), now that Salman has also shown interest is a big plus for the league,” a source was quoted saying.

Already 30 parties have picked up the bid documents and due to the overwhelming response, organisers IMG-Reliance extended the submission date by two days.

Shahrukh Khan has also been linked with the Kolkata franchise of the ISL and now Salman’s interest will give more publicity to the much-awaited league, which will take place between September and November later this year.

Salman has been known to be a keen follower of the beautiful game and famously attended the 2009 Nehru Cup final at Delhi’s Ambedkar Stadium, which India won by defeating Syria on penalties.
