It was one of the worst semi-final defeats in a world cup with the hosts Brazil going down 1-7 to the brutal Germany.

It all happened in the first half. It took just 6 minutes, from 24 minutes to 26 minutes of the game to rattle the Brazilian defence and put the ball past Julio Cesar.

Two goals from Toni Kroos and Andre Schurrle, and Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose and Sami Khedira with one goal each closed the match for Germany and doomed Brazil for their worst ever defeat since their loss in 1950 final.

Toni Kroos scored twice in 24th and 26th minute and then Sami Khedira strike on 29th minute to finish off a breathtaking tactical gameplay by Germans to make it 5-0.

The 7-1 result is the heaviest defeat for a host nation in World cup history.

Portugal 7-0 North Korea- 2010

Simao, Hugo Almedia, Ronaldo and Tiago scored a goal each, a second finish by Tiago made sure that North Korea never came back from the drubbing.

The most number of goals however scored in a World Cup qualifying match goes to Australia and American Samoa where the match finished at an astonishing score line which read 31-0.
