London, Aug 30 (IANS) Sunderland and Sevilla on Tuesday ended negotiations for the transfer of Spanish midfielder Vicente Iborra, who will continue with the Andalusian football side where he has a contract until 2020.

The deal to sell Iborra had been set at 7.7 million pounds sterling ($10 million), which amounts to 8.5 million pounds sterling ($11.1 million) with variables, and a medical examination was the only thing left to arrange, reports Efe.

Iborra, who had already reached an agreement with Sunderland, was a primary objective of Scottish coach David Mayes, who hoped to close the signing before the market closes on Wednesday.

The midfielder, 28, won the Europa League with Sevilla in the last three seasons and played 47 games with the Spanish side last season, scoring nine goals.

After their failure to sign Iborra, the English side has targeted Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason, 25, who did not fit into the plans of coach Mauricio Pocketing.
