TAL: Gameweek 10 Preview

TAL

Before we get into reviewing GW 10, a little peak into what the last two gameweeks offer. Horizons and Saints will battle it out for top honours and with only goal difference separating the two; we can expect a frantic finish on the final day. Gremio have an outside chance at the title but realistically might have to settle for third.

Indian Ocean is currently in last place having picked up just 3 points and need two back-to-wins if they are to have any chance of survival. Rare Dare FC, though can almost guarantee their spot in the division if they win both their games and how other games play out will only influence their final standing in the top 10. The key, of course, is Mavericks FC, who after having started off well have been on a downslide since GW 4 but with so many teams’ fates tied to Mavericks, they could write the storybook to their singsong.

Mercurial have gone on an incredible run winning three in a row after losing their first six games, but with a game against Indian Ocean on the final day they might not be out of the woods. Of the teams that can, Project 7 looks least likely to go down but that prospect is still mathematically possible; a win in their remaining three games will guarantee their status in the division. Yataghan, FCKK, Flipkart and Samba all have the same number of points and could each end up as high as fourth or as low as seventh.

7:30 AM – Flipkart FC v Project 7

A postponed game from GW 5 finally takes place in GW10 when Flipkart FC go head to head with Project 7. Flipkart will be looking to claim fourth spot and with a game in hand,is the best bet to take that position. Project 7 got a crucial win over Mavericks in GW9 but will be looking for a strong finish to a decent first campaign.

Crystal Ball: Flipkart FC (2) – (1) Project 7

8:30 AM – Mercurial FC v Yataghan BFC

Mercurial FC takes on Yataghan BFC in the first game of Sunday. Mercurial have been on a roll having picked up 9 out 9 points and will be looking for a fourth straight victory to complete their miraculous escape from the bottom. Yataghan faltered against FCKK in GW 9 and lost their outside shot at 3rd but with four teams vying for 4thplace, a quick recovery is needed.

Crystal Ball: Mercurial FC (1) – (2) Yataghan BFC

10:00AM –FC Kougen Kikou v Rare Dare FC

Next, FC Kougen Kikou play Rare Dare FC in what is a crucial match for the latter. FCKK regained a full strength squad last week and will be looking to build on their win in GW9 to push higher up the table. RDFC need atleast a point if they are to stave off relegation but an over-cautious approach to this game may put their fates in someone else’s hands (or feet…).

Crystal Ball: FC Kougen Kikou (1) – (1) Rare Dare FC

11:30 AM – Indian Ocean v Samba FC

The morning session rounds off with Indian Ocean taking on Samba FC. Indian Ocean have dug themselves into a huge hole with insipid performances over the last few weeks and with just two games to go, they will need victories in both to lead them to safety. Samba FC has battled to find consistency in their performances and with fourth spot up for grabs, they must make sure the right Samba shows up!

Crystal Ball: Indian Ocean (1) – (1) Samba FC

1:15 PM – Flipkart FC v Horizons FC

Flipkart FC go head to head with Horizons FC to start off the afternoon session of games. Flipkart scored a late goal in GW 9 to beat Indian Ocean and take all three points but if they are to compete with Horizons, they will be looking gto field a full strength squad. Horizons still have their fate in their own hands- leading on goal difference- but must quickly forget their blunder in GW 9 if they are to defend their title.

Crystal Ball: Flipkart FC (0) – (3) Horizons FC

2:45 PM – Mavericks FC v Saints FC

Mavericks FC clash against Saints FC in a key encounter for both teams. Mavericks have lost their way in recent weeks but knowing that even a point might take them to safety must surely give them enough confidence going into the game. Saints are behind Horizons in the table albeit only on goal difference and know they need to come out all guns firing if they are to have a shot at the title. Given the recent form of Mavericks, Saints will look at this fixture as an opportunity to cut down on the goal difference.

Crystal Ball: Mavericks FC (1) – (4) Saints FC

4:15 PM – Gremio FC v Project 7

The final game of the day features Gremio FC and Project 7. Gremio have third place almost wrapped up but will try and win the rest of their games infar-fetched hope that Horizons and Saints will lose ground. Project 7 still aren’t completely out of the woods but can play the game without any anxiety, knowingthat their closest rivals need miraculous results for Project 7 to go down, but in football, crazy things seem to happen just when you think it to be impossible.

Crystal Ball: Gremio FC (2) – (1) Project 7
