Arsenal fans – and even supporters of rival clubs – hoping to enjoy following Premier League icon Thierry Henry on twitter in the future may be disappointed to hear the Frenchman recently expressed quite a negative view of social media platforms.

Henry currently plays in the MLS for the New York Red Bulls and is fondly remembered among football fans as one of the most breathtaking strikers of the Premier League era.

However, the former gunner announced that he has no intention of stepping up interaction efforts with his admiring faithful and when asked whether he had any plans to set up his own Twitter account, answered:

“Zero interest. Minus 120%, whatever you want to put. I don’t like Twitter, I don’t like Instagram, I don’t have a Twitter [account], I don’t have an Instagram.

“You can find a lot of pages of me there and it’s not me. I don’t see the point. I’m very old school like that. That’s why you guys are here. I can talk about it so you can write, I don’t need to have Twitter.

“You can relate to what I’m saying about whatever, you know, old school. For me it’s good, I like it when I speak to people face to face, I’m here looking at you.

“I have never understood it. I don’t understand all that Twitter, Instagram thing. I don’t really get it. But I respect it.”

Throughout the MLS 2013 season, Thierry Henry accomplished a tackle completion rate of 87% through claiming the ball in 20 of 23 challenges. During the current Premier League season, onetime rival Rio Ferdinand has already failed five tackles, having completed six out of 11.
