Turkish giants Galatasaray sign sponsorship deal with Indian company HCL Infosystems

Turkish Süper Lig giants Galatasaray Istanbul on Thursday unveiled a new sponsorship deal with Indian technology company HCL Infosystems’ ME Tablet brand.Galatasaray SK signed the sponsorship agreement with the Indian technology giant, HCL Infosystems for its ME Tablet brand, at an official signature ceremony at the Ali Sami Yen Sport Complex’s Türk Telekom Arena.

Galatasaray SK is the most successful football club in Turkey, having won 45 domestic trophies including a record 19 Süper Lig titles, a record 14 Turkish Cups and a record 12 Turkish Super Cups besides winning the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup.

“We have come together to announce this agreement between a well-known brand in the world, Galatasaray, a leader with an international identity and HCL ME Tablet, a leading technology brand based out of India. We are pleased to announce the limited edition ME Tablet Series which will be launched in the Turkey market,” said Ünal Aysal, president of the Galatasaray SK.

Gautam Advani, Global Head – Mobility Business, HCL Infosystems Ltd. said, “It is a proud moment for us to be a sponsor of one of the most favorite European clubs, Galatasaray. Turkey carries a great strategic importance for HCL ME Tablets.”

The new deal follows the end of Galatasaray’s earlier deal with Nikon, and ME Tablet will replace the Japanese electronics firm’s branding space on the team’s shorts for the duration of the 2013/14 season. As part of the deal, HCL will also design a special Galatasaray version of the ME Tablet, ‘ME GS 1905′, to be sold exclusively across Galatasaray Stores in Turkey and online under www.gsstore.org .

Media reports out of Turkey suggest the deal is worth US$ 1,5million and the deal includes the Galatasaray SK’s men’s volleyball team, which will wear the ME Tablet logo on their arms.

Indian tech major HCL joins other brands from the technology sector – Turk Telekom, Avea and Yandex – on the lis of Galatasaray sponsors.
