Video: Goalkeeper gets insane assist after throwing ball directly into opponent's half

We’ve seen goalkeepers like Manuel Neuer and Peter Schmeichel throw the ball a mile on the pitch to initiate attacks. And now we can add another goalkeeper to that list.

When Naft Tehran played Tractor Sazi in the Persian League, goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand got one of the most unbelievable assists ever seen.

After catching a cross inside his own six-yard box, he ran to the edge of the box and launched a jaw-dropping throw which saw the ball land in the opponent’s half!

That was all the invitation Gholamreza Rezaei needed to drive forward, beat two defenders tracking back and take a first time shot from way outside the box to beat the goalkeeper. Five seconds was all Naft Tehran needed to score that goal.

Fast forward to 2:10 to watch the goal.
