Video: Substitute gets straight red card 17 seconds after coming on

red card 17 seconds
Ruben Zadkovich’s first piece of action was a rash tackle saw him get a straight red card.

Perth Glory’s Ruben Zadkovich probably had the worst moment in his career when he lasted only 17 seconds on the pitch before he was sent off. The midfielder was given a straight red card for a studs up challenge that floored his opponent.

In a match against Wellington Phoenix in the A-League on Friday night, Zadkovich came on for Rostyn Griffiths in the second half, on the hour mark with Perth leading 2-0.

After the restart, Zadkovich was immediately forced to take some action when Wellington midfielder Vince Lia got the ball. Zadkovich went diving in with his foot in the air, crashing into Lia who fell to the turf in obvious pain.

The referee had no choice but to brandish a red card and bring Zadkovich’s match to a very premature end as he walked off the pitch. However, Perth Glory managed to keep Wellington at bay and won the match 2-1.
