Winning the Champions League is like 'making love' jokes Sergio Ramos

Ramos knows his UCL stuff!

Of all the comparisons we have heard from players about winning a Champions League final, this takes the cake. Sergio Ramos has come up with another one of his beautiful quotes on love and football.

The defender has said winning you first UCL title is like making love. Speaking to The Guardian he said, “The first time is like when you make love: you always remember it … but then it’s true that you can improve because to start with you’re a disaster.”

Ramos is known to be an extrovert in that Madrid team and people who didn’t believe it before they will surely have no doubts about it now! It might not be something you hear every day but the Spaniard is the best judge of his emotions.

Ramos scored a stoppage time equalizer against Atletico Madrid two seasons ago to take the game to extra time. Real Madrid eventually won that game 4-1. Ramos had the perfect analogy for that moment as well.

“The first time always has a special taste. I was the protagonist for a great goal,” he said. “But I am optimistic, very ambitious, and I prefer to keep turning the page and adding [trophies] to my CV. Hopefully, I will have the chance to lift the trophy.”

The two clubs that met in 2013 are set to do battle once again this time in Milan. Atletico will definitely be out for revenge, and they will hope the nightmares of two seasons will not come back to haunt them this time.

It will be the third year running that a Spanish team will lift the coveted trophy, a prime example of the dominance of Spanish club over the past few years. With Sevilla winning the Europa league the UEFA Super Cup to be played as the curtain-raiser next season will also be won by a Spanish team.

I love playing against Barcelona and Atletico: Sergio Ramos

Clashes between the best teams in the world are very unique, but when the match is a derby or an intense rivalry makes an occasion all the more special. “It’s always special to play against Atlético or Barcelona – and all the more so in a final,” Ramos said.

“We know our opponents well; we know exactly what kind of team we will be facing. If there’s any team around that has not changed its philosophy that’s Atlético. We know that it will be a very competitive, very hard game against a team that plays with a lot of intensity, a lot of character. We’ll see what happens.” he added.
