Wycombe Wanderers’ substitute sent off the pitch after just 3.7 seconds

Wycombe Wanderers striker Matt McClure was sent off the pitch 3.7 seconds after being substituted on for Sam Saunders. The striker was brought on at the 67th minute of the match, to help retain the Wanderers’ 2-1 lead against Tranmere Rovers. The player was on the pitch for 70 seconds, but in terms of actual playtime the player only played for 3.7 seconds.

McClure who was involved in an aerial battle for the ball was adjudged to have flung his elbow toward against the opponent and was shown the red card. The Club who went on to win the game, will be appealing against the decision to the FA.

The speed at which the player was sent off might actually earn him a place in the Guinness World Book of Record for fastest dismisal.
