Uosama Alabed Almohsen’s son Zied was given a once in a lifetime opportunity when he got to walk alongside Cristiano Ronaldo onto the Madrid pitch. Almohsen was the father of the Syrian family who made global new when a Hungarian news journalist tripped him while he was running towards safety with his two kids Zied and Mohammed.

Madrid who felt they had a responsibility to help the family, invited them to watch the Real Madrid match vs Granada in flesh. Apart from that both teams showed their support to the cause by having “El fútbol profesional con los refugiados“ printed on their t-shirts, which translates to Professional football stands with the refugees.

The family on Thursday were greeted by Florentino Perez and got to meet all the players and the technical staff in Ciudad Real Madrid. Uosama in an official Real Madrid report said: "Real Madrid are my team, and my whole family's too. It's a dream come true. I love Real Madrid, they're my favorite team and my whole family's too.

“I'm very grateful for the welcome given to us by the president. In Syria we dreamed of seeing a Real Madrid match, and now that's going to come true. I'm really happy".

On September 5th, the club made an announcement where they planned to donate one million euros towards this cause. Apart from that they also pledged to donate a Euro from their first Champions League home game upon UEFA’s suggestion.

Mayor of Getafe Sara Henandez said: "We will work with Getafe so Osama Abdul Mohsen can train, as he has experience with that, and that his son Zaid can play for the team, and who knows if in the future this can happen with another Spanish club?"
