The current Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has finally expressed his opinion on the ever-popular debate of who is better between Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo by saying, “Messi? Cristiano is better.”

The Frenchman expressed his views in a recent interview with Record Mexico, where he commented on the Messi-Ronaldo debate and also talked about his decision to become a manager as well as his football philosophy and future with the Los Blancos.

When asked if Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is the best player in the world, this is what the Los Blancos manager had to say, “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best. People can say what they like about Cristiano Ronaldo, but in his heart he's a good person. Messi is the rival and that rivalry is great for the footballing spectacle, it's what the fans want to see.”

Zidane, who was appointed as manager on 4th January 2016 after the dismissal of Rafael Benitez, also opened up on his decision to become a manager. Zizou expressed that he never thought that he would become a manager and all he wanted to do after his career as a footballer ended was to spend quality time with his family. “I always liked being on the pitch, it's what I knew how to do. Everything else was foreign to me", he added.

Zizou, who in his time as an assistant coach and the B-team coach saw two heavyweight coaches get fired by Real Madrid management, claimed that now that he is the manager he can understand the pressure his predecessors felt. He also added that, “now it's me who deals with all the stress."

When asked about his match preparation rituals, this is what the new manager had to say, “The main thing is getting my message across to the players. I only give them two or three instructions because they're extremely professional. I have a sensational group of players, I'm delighted with the work they're doing.”

Having seen the effect team performance has on Manager’s careers first hand, Zizou was quick to admit that it’s always the manager’s fault when the team loses and he has to take all the good and the bad that comes with the job.
