Zinedine Zidane has slated Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to let Paul Pogba leave Manchester United, claiming it was a mistake letting Paul Pogba leave.
The young Frenchman left United in 2012 after Ferguson refused to give him £20,000 per week and a guarantee of first-team opportunities. He has since shone for Juventus, playing an integral part in the Old Lady‘s Serie A winning campaign last season.
He is now holds down a firm spot in Juve’s midfield, as well as becoming one of lynchpins of a young French national side.
Zidane said: “The word ‘mistake’ is not something you would normally associate with Alex Ferguson’s time at Manchester United.
“But I do think it was a mistake letting Paul Pogba leave.
“He will go on to be one of the best central midfield players in Europe and he was the natural successor to Paul Scholes, someone they could have built the team around.
“He is with Juventus and doing very well but, as always, Real Madrid will be looking to add the best players in the world.”
Pogba made just seven appearances for United, all coming as a substitute, before jetting off to Turin.
Pogba has five goals to his name in Serie A this season, as well as having created 30 chances for his team-mates.
