Zlatan will make his debut today

Zlatan is a very charismatic personality. The Swedish striker is not a top quality goalscorer but off the pitch, his character and confidence have become something of a phenomenon. He says things other football players normally don’t

This reputation is widely known across the footballing world and wherever he goes, a lot of people including media want to hear him speak. Ahead of Manchester united’s first game, the player spoke about his move to the Red Devils with Sky Sports.

Zlatan has played for some of the best clubs in the world, including the likes of Barcelona, Juventus, both Milan clubs and Paris Saint-Germain. Now he has added Manchester United to that repertoire.

But the striker believes Manchester United is probably one step higher than the other clubs he has played for.

“It was the moment to come to England, and who would not come to Manchester United? I don't believe there is anybody who could say no to a club like Manchester United. Even the name sounds cool. I'm super excited. It's massive.”

“It's top level. I played for Barcelona and also Juventus and Milan, it's the same thing, but I think this could be one step more.”

United have enjoyed massive success in the past two decades but in the last three years they have been unable to replicate that ever since Sir Alex decided to step down. Now, with Jose Mourinho at the helm things are looking up again and the Red Devils are one of the title favourites this season.

But the club might still be a step behind the likes of Barcelona and Juventus despite what Zlatan might want to believe.

‘I could play for more than one year’: Zlatan

Zlatan has only signed a one-year deal with United and at 34 it’s what both parties would have thought was the ideal contract. But the Swede has hinted he might extend his career given his circumstances and how his body responds this season.

“Let's see what happens. You never know. It could be more than two, it could be more than three, let's see how long I feel like I can perform. I will not be somewhere only because I am Ibrahimovic. I will be somewhere because I can perform and bring results.”

Even at this age Zlatan doesn;t seem to be slowing down in terms of scoring goals. He scored 38 last season with PSG and has already shown glimpses of what he is capable of in pre-season.

Who knows how long the striker can prolong his career. United fans will be hoping it is as long as possible.
