Xbox One sales top 9 million worldwide

Xbox One sold over 9 million worldwide

According to sales tracking site VGChartz, Microsoft's 8th generation home console, the Xbox One has managed to sell more than nine million units worldwide. This news comes after a stellar month, which saw Xbox One finally beat its main competitor. Last month Microsoft announced that it sold over 10 million units of Xbox One, which represented the number of units shipped to retailers, whereas the recent figure of 9 million units represents the actual sales to consumers.

These sales have placed the Xbox One in the second place position for eight generation console sales, surpassing Nintendo’s Wii U. But it will take a while for Microsoft’s Xbox One to tackle Sony’s PlayStation 4, as it sold over 10 million units to consumers in August month alone. November and December are the biggest months for sales, so it is expected that this number will rise significantly by the beginning of 2015.

Along with the 9 million consoles of Xbox One, it is to be noted that Microsoft has sold over 34 millions of software for the Xbox One. This means that an average Xbox One owner currently has about four games for their system. It is also widely expected that the sales will hit the roof during this holiday season.
