Abhinav Bindra using electric discharges to keep heart rate low at Rio Olympics 2016

Abhinav Bindra is the flag-bearer of the 2016 Rio Olympic contingent

Continuing with his unique training techniques, Abhinav Bindra is using a definitive scientific method called Electro-magnetic system, which increases the nervous system efficiency. The 2008 Olympic gold medallist is currently training in Munich for the sporting extravaganza on August 5. The system involves injection of electric discharges into the nervous system to keep the heart rate low. Shooting in it’s core dynamic involves mental stability, which this system is supposed to accentuate.

Speaking about the system in details, Abinav’s father Apjit Bindra said, “It is not just simply electric shocks being injected into the body, it’s a far more complicated process, where the an electric circuit monitors your heart rate. It also gives something called positive shocks, which are low bouts of electricity, which he might not feel, but will help reduce his heart rate. He told me about this on phone. Since we talk only once a week, I don’t much more about this system.”

This is not the first time Abhinav has attempted eccentric training techiniques prior to the Olympics. In 2008, he climbed a 40 feet pizza pole to conquer his fear of heights, his reason was that he didn’t want any fear to control him. Bindra senior added, “Abhinav always cuts off prior to the Olympics, a couple of months before he cuts and we are now used to this. We know he wants full concentration on bettering his game, He doesn’t like to read about the stories from the media as well. So we also now know the drill.”

Apart from being one of the four goodwill ambassadors, Abhinav will also be the flag bearer for the 118 strong contingent, the highest for India in Olympic history. The 33-year old is being again touted as one of the front runner for gold from the shooting contingent.
