In what will be music to the ears of Manchester United fans all around the world, manager David Moyes has claimed that the club is ready to spend big in the January transfer window.

“The club have the money and they will spend, there’s no question about that,” Moyes was quoted in The Telegraph

“We were very close to a major, major signing back in the summer.“It’s easy now saying it and we didn’t do it but we were really close to a major signing and the club would have definitely shown what they’re worth.”

The major signing United missed out on is believed to be Gareth Bale who eventually made a world record fee move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer.

“It wasn’t for money, that’s for sure. The players had chosen other clubs or made their decisions elsewhere.“The bigger picture is I want players going forward, not just for the next six months.

“I’m looking to see if I can get someone who will be with us for the next six or seven years.”

David Moyes also talked about letting go of players who haven’t been performing even after being numerous opportunities.

“Would we sell? If the right offers were there, we’d probably look at it,” he said.

“I’ve tried to give an opportunity to everybody.“We’ll be balancing trying to move people on but also trying to bring people in.”
