"All I try to do is focus on myself" - Ludvig Aberg faces tough competition after Scottie Scheffler sweeps 2024 RBC Heritage lead

After Scottie Scheffler overtook the lead at the 2024 RBC Heritage on Day 3, Ludvig Aberg stated that he had expected Scheffler's strong performance, which was beyond his control. However, he insisted that his focus remained on his own game, looking to ensure that he played according to his plan.

On Saturday, April 20, Scheffler carded 8-under 63 to aggregate at 16-under and jump nine spots to take a single-stroke lead after 54 holes at RBC Heritage. Aberg, who has also been quite consistent this week, posted a 3-under 68 in the third round and was three strokes behind the lead with 18 holes to go.

During the post-round interview, Aberg reflected on his mindset amidst Scheffler's consistent dominance this season.

"I think we all expect him to play well, and there's nothing I can do about it," he said. "All I try to do is focus on myself and make sure that I hit the shots the way I want to and then see where that takes me."

Last week, Ludvig Aberg had finished runner-up at the Masters Tournament, falling four strokes short to Scheffler. He said it was a lot of learning experience at Augusta and he felt he did a great job in carrying forward the momentum to Harbour Town Golf Links this week.

"I felt like we did a great job this week so far of trying to stay patient, trying to stay disciplined, and know that the skills and the shots are there and then just try to trust that and make sure we have fun," he added.

Speaking on the final round strategy, Ludvig Aberg added that he would stick to his plan, which had been working well, and would like to be a little sharper into the greens and off the tee.
