Living legend of Golf, Tiger Woods was conferred with the PGA Tour Player of the Year,2013. It’s 11th time that Tiger Woods has been named as the PGA Tour player of the year. His countryman Jordan Speith was voted as Rookie of the year.

The awards were decided upon votes of tour members, who played at least 12 official money events in 2013. Woods won this award despite not winning major title in this year.

“Tiger’s five wins came against some of the strongest fields in golf including the Players and two World Golf Championships, while Jordan’s rookie season was historic in terms of his accomplishments for a player just 20 years old,” said PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem.

“The members vote reflects the respect their peers have for both players.”

“It’s been an incredible year to have won five times, two of those World Golf Championships and one Players,” Woods said on Friday.

“It’s been just a fantastic year all around. It’s also an incredible feeling to be voted by your peers, and to have that type of respect is something that’s very humbling.”

Rookie Jordan Speith entered the year 2013 with no tour status, yet he was able to enter in the 23 events. He is youngest player to achieve a win on tour since 1931. He achieved this feat by winning the John Deere classic.

“I don’t know if it’s a pinch-me moment yet. I think my mind is still really on next week,” Spieth said about the upcoming Presidents Cup,2013 where he is a captain’s pick member.

“I have confidence in myself…to get the job done. Just the way the year ran, the way it happened, I feel very fortunate, very blessed. A lot of luck involved.”
