Having climbed the ladder of success at such a young age, Rory Mcllroy is learning to deal with all the attention. The youngest Masters Champion since Tiger Woods is currently enjoying some time off with his girl-friend who also happens to be the Tennis sensation, Caroline Wozniacki. He has an injury in his right fore-arm which is being tended to but it is unlikely to stop him from featuring in the European Masters next week. He suffered the injury while playing at the opening round of the PGA Championship due to an interrupted swing.

The sensational win at the US Open has made him the blue-eyed boy of the Golfing world which was in desperate need of a poster bow since the infamous exile of Tiger Woods. Comparisons with Woods have been made and he himself has admitted of trying to emulate the great sporting genius. We hope he limits himself to that. His colleagues such as McDowell, winner of U.S. Open 2010, have heralded him as “the greatest player ever seen” a bit prematurely but it is unarguable that the lad has the requisite potential.

He revealed his plans of playing 17-18 events on the PGA tour next year while speaking of his recovery. He said he was “Okay. It’s not 100%”. He was in a jolly good mood accompanying Wozniacki her at the New Haven Open tennis tournament and shared. Unlike Tiger Woods who was very calculated in his manner of handling the press, he opened himself to all sorts of enquiry even admitting that it would be “alright” to call Wozniacki his girlfriend.

The two share a similar position in the world of sport and with the U.S. Open coming up for Wozniacki, Rory may be a sign of good luck. Wozniacki holds the World no. 1 position currently but is yet to win a grand slam event. In this matter, her position is not dissimilar from what Rory’s was a few months ago. He has broken the jinx and if Wozniacki’s form is anything to go by, she will do so soon as well. Mcllroy said, “Obviously, different sports, but we’re pretty much in the same position at a young age and we can talk about things that probably a lot of 21, 22-year olds can’t talk about. It’s nice to have someone that sort of understands what you’re going through.”
