With that, India win five out of five and remains the only team unbeaten in the tournament. They are sitting pretty at the top of the table and have more or less sealed a spot for the semifinal. Virat Kohli was five runs away from equalling his idol Sachin Tendulkar with 49 ODI centuries, but that's for another day. For now, we hope you enjoyed our coverage. Well, then. Plenty of positives for India coming out of that game. They were put into difficult positions while bowling, but they responded well to pull it back in the latter part. The chase was also not straightforward. The lost some wickets in the middle, but kept building partnerships around Virat Kohli. The team would also be happy that Jadeja got some game time with the bat, which might come in handy later in the tournament. The skipper has also got a headache about whom to leave out when Hardik Pandya is back. Mohammed Shami grabbed the opportunity with both hands and showed us why he is one of the best in the business with a five-fer.

Rohit Sharma (captain, India): It's a good start. We know that the job is half done, long way to go in the tournament, Important to stay balanced, not to think too far ahead. He (Mohammed Shami) took the opportunity with both hands. He has got class, and plenty of experience in these conditions. At one stage, we were looking at 300 plus, the way Mitch (Daryl Mitchell) and Rachin (Ravindra) batted. The wicket was easy to bat on, dew came in as well. Give credit to the bowlers, they pulled it back nicely in the end. I am enjoying batting with (Shubman) Gill. Different personalities and different ways of batting, we compliment each other well. There[s nothing much to say (on Virat Kohli). He has been doing this for so many years, calm head, backed himself to do the job. Some pressure there in the end, lost couple of wickets, but Kohli and (Ravindra) Jadeja pulled us back. Fielding is something we pride ourselves. Today was not as clinical as you would expect. But you are talking about Jadeja (dropping the catch), one of the best fielders in the game. This is something that happens. Fielding will decide a lot of things going forward. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere, love playing in different parts of the country. We have not disappointed the crowd as well.

Tom Latham (captain, New Zealand): We played well. Towards the last 10 (overs), did not capitalize. Full credit to India, they bowled fantastically well. With the ball, we went past the bat plenty of times. They managed to get partnership after partnership, we just couldn't get two wickets in a row. Rachin (Ravindra) and Daryl (Mitchell) had a fantastic partnership, set us up nicely for the back 10, but again, we couldn't capitalize. From a batting point of view, this just gives a blueprint for us. Wickets in hand towards the back 10. These are positions we want to be in. He (Virat Kohli) played a fantastic innings, controlled it well and the team batted around him. We got to be proactive, work to your plan as much as you can. Another good innings from him. We have got a few days off. Day game coming up, which is in a week. We were not too far off today, just taking the positives from that.

Mohammed Shami, Player of the Match: (Wicket first ball) I was coming in after a long time and it was important to gain confidence. My confidence got high after the wicket first ball. (How hard has it been sitting on the bench) It is not too hard if your team is performing well. You should support your teammates and enjoy it, it is not very tough if you have that mindset. (On wickets towards the end) Vital to pick up wickets for the team. It was very important, especially in a game between the top teams.

What a fantastic run-chase that was. The Virat chasemaster Kohli once again doing it for the side. He started cautiously but kept the scoreboard ticking once he got into his stride. There were just 8 boundaries in his innings of 95 but he still managed to score just below a run a ball. Speaks volumes about his running between the wickets. He was gearing up for his 49th ODI century, but it wasn't to be. He fell when the target was just five runs away, but Ravindra Jadeja ensured that there were no further hiccups.

The start by the opening pair was crucial for the run-chase. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill ensured that they were off to a flier and the required rate never got out of hand. Rohit Sharma, just he has done throughout this tournament, started with a bang, clearing the boundary four times in his innings of 46. The pair put on 71 runs in just 11 overs before the Indian skipper dragged one on off the bowling of Lockie Ferguson. Shubman Gill was sent back to the hut soon after and it was a period of rebuilding for India.

Shreyas Iyer started fluently and put on a 50-run stand with Virat Kohli. He was tested with the short stuff which he handled well till the one which he miscued off the top edge to deep square leg. KL Rahul also put on a 50-run stand with Kohli but India lost back-to-back wickets in the form of Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav.

They still needed 83 runs at this stage and another wicket would have meant that the brittle lower-order will come into the picture. But Ravindra Jadeja, in his first outing with the bat in the tournament, built a solid partnership with Virat Kohli and ensured that they took the team home.

Mitchell Santner was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand. He varies his pace nicely and kept it nice and slow for the most part of his spell, getting enough purchase from the pitch. Lockie Ferguson got two quick wickets in his spell but conceded too many boundary opportunities for the batters. Matt Henry had a good phase with the new ball when he troubled Shubman Gill with balls seaming away off a length. However, he couldn't translate that into early wickets.
