- UFC 194 is only a couple of weeks away and the final card is in need of a last-minute change-up after one of the names on the card, Michelle Waterson is reportedly injured and has pulled out of the fight against fellow strawweight contender Tecia Torres.
Waterson, who was set for only her second fight inside the octagon next month, started with UFC this year after a high-profile run under the Invicta FC banner. ‘The Karate Hottie’ boasts of a career record of 7-1 dating back to 2009 and was in talks for a crack at the crown with a couple of big wins.
However, now it has been put seemingly on hold as the promotion looks for a last-minute replacement for Tecia Torres in the coming days.
Torres for her part, has also been staking her claim for a title shot after going 6-0 in the Octagon. The UFC 194 card is headlined by the blockbuster main event pitting UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo against interim UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
- Michael Bisping, who is among the longest tenured UFC fighters on the roster, had recently declared his lack of interest in a fight against former longtime UFC champion Anderson Silva, owing to the failed drug test involving the ‘Spider’.
However, he has now expressed willingness in taking the big-money fight, as despite all that went down, it is still Anderson Silva.
"I thought, ‘You know what, screw it.' I'll put my judgement to one side, and I'll take the fight because it is Anderson Silva," Bisping told MMA Junkie. "He is a legend, and I want to have the biggest fights possible. But generally, that is the rule I'm going to stick to."
Even since the drug fiasco, Silva has maintained his innocence. But the outspoken Brit isn’t ready to buy into it yet and claims that the Brazilian’s history with drugs run far deeper than that.
"I don't think that at 39 years old, having the career that Anderson Silva had, I don't think you make the decision at 39 years old to try this new thing called steroids. I think he must have been on the juice the whole time," he said.
It is to be seen if the fight gets made, as Silva has been in talks for a fight against fellow Brazilian MMA legend Vitor Belfort, sometime in next year.
