"I'M SHAKING" - Charly Arnolt reacts to history-making ring announcement takeover after Joe Martinez falls sick at UFC Vegas 91

In a surprising turn of events, Charly Arnolt became the first female octagon announcer in UFC history.

Veteran announcer Joe Martinez was on duty to announce the fights at the UFC Vegas 91 event. To the surprise of many, Arnolt appeared on screen when it was time to announce the result of the women's flyweight contest between Ariane da Silva and Karine Silva.

MMA journalist Mike Bohn reported that Arnolt replaced Martinez because the latter fell sick during the event. Arnolt, who had been chosen as the roving reporter for the event, also did the introduction and result announcement for the co-main event between Ryan Spann and Bogdan Guskov.

Martinez returned to action for the main event and fulfilled his duties for the headlining bout. Following the event, Arnolt took to X and shared her thoughts on the historic moment:

"YA'LL. I'M SHAKING!! What an experience that was!!"

The UFC has come a long way in terms of women's involvement since its inception. After the inclusion of the women's bantamweight division in the early 2010s, the promotion now boasts four women's weight classes. Female fighters have also headlined many pay-per-view and Fight Night events in recent years.

Things have changed rapidly in the broadcast team as well. Karyn Bryant, Megan Olivi, and Laura Sanko have all worked as prominent members of the UFC broadcast team.

Sanko made history when she became the second female UFC commentator. She has been widely appreciated for her research and knowledge about fighters. Former kickboxing champion Kathy Long was the first female to work as a commentator for the UFC event. She called the UFC 1 event in 1993.

Bruce Buffer and Joe Martinez have taken care of UFC octagon announcement duties for a very long time. As of now, it is not clear if Arnolt will be given the responsibility for subsequent events.
