Holly Holm's win leads to a guy winning a quarter of a million dollars

Beginning of the Holm Era?

Holly Holm’s knockout win not only proved to be a lucrative outing for the ‘Preacher’s Daughter', but also for a sports bettor who put his money on Holm.

“Vegas” Dave Oancea was labeled crazy when he put his money on Holm, but after what transpired at the historic event in Melbourne, he is now being called a genius.

It so happened that the odds closed as an 8-1 favorite for Holm, but Dave surprised one and all to lock in an early bet at 12-1 for Holm. On one side where everyone was expecting Ronda to continue her dominance over Holm, Dave was optimistic of an upset.

And that is exactly what happened as Holly Holm made Ronda look nothing like she is known for by defeating her in the second round with a well-placed head kick. Just like that Dave’s $20,000 bet multiplied to a whopping $240,000 win. He tweeted the details of his bet soon after UFC 193:

What an insightful bet indeed. Apparently, It wasn‘t Holly’s ability and boxing credentials that made him put her money on her, but says that he just wanted to bet against Rousey.

He also divulged that he always bets against the former Champion as he knows for a fact that she would eventually lose someday that would in turn fill his pockets up.

By terming it his philosophy, he said, “I’ll put $10,000 on that for fun. I’ll put $10,000 on her every time against her and just keep doubling up, because eventually she’s going to lose – that’s my philosophy. It just takes one lucky punch. I’ll put $10,000 on her if they let me do it. I’ve got balls.”

You have to give it to him that he did indeed had the balls to do what no one ever does – put their bets on Rousey’s opponent. This is not the first time he hit a jackpot from a bet, though, as he won 2.5 million on a bet on Kansas City Royals some time back.
