Marc Marquez back to Pole mark at French GP

Marc Marquez secured his third pole position at Le Mans on Saturday

Defending world champion Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team rode superbly to his third pole of the season in the French GP of Le Mans. A lap of 1.32.246 put him first on the grid from Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati Team who was followed by last time out (Spanish GP) winner Jorge Lorenzo of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP who put in 1.32.846.

Albeit, Jorge was unhappy with his performance in Qualifying but he will still be a contender to win as he was quite fast in all the practice sessions in the circuit. British rider Cal Crutchlow will start from fourth on the grid after putting in a 1:32.897 lap - just 0.051 sec away from Lorenzo.

Andrea Iannone of Ducati Team starts the French GP in fifth position, leaving Brit Bradley Smith in sixth. Valentino Rossi of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP & Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda Team will start from 7th & 8th respectively. The race will start at 14.00 local time.

Some facts to look out for the French GP:

1. Marc Marquez is just 3 wins shy of matching Dani Pedrosa in most GP wins. Out of current active riders, he stays at 46 wins, Dani Pedrosa at 49 wins, Jorge Lorenzo is sitting at 55 race wins and Valentino Rossi at 110 wins.
