Jari-Matti Latvala wins Rallye de France Alsace

Finnish driver Jari-Matti Latvala secured his 12th World Rally Championship (WRC) victory when he won the Rallye de France Alsace, his first on asphalt here.

The 29-year-old has shared all his 12 victories since 2003 with his co-driver Miikka Anttila and was handed the first place trophy during a ceremony here Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Latvala, has been competing in WRC since 2002, and also won the 64th Rally Finland in August, the 34th Rally Argentina in May and the 62nd Rally Sweden in February.

Norwegian driver Andreas Mikkelsen, 25, finished second while 35-year-old British driver Kris Meeke claimed third spot.

Ninety-seven teams from 22 different countries and regions registered to compete in the two-day race which is the 11th round, out of 13, in the WRC calendar covering a total distance of 1232.94 km.
