Season of Polo Hits Delhi This November

As the cold waves push the mercury down, the splendid sunshine spreads the glory. Yes… It is winters in the capital and Delhi is lovely in those months.

With the freshness in the wind, the city welcomes the season of the fastest, alluring, and most dangerous sport on the face of this planet—Polo…the royal sport of the daredevils. An hour long spectacle of charismatic horsemanship, skillful stick work, pulsating moves, meritorious face-offs with occasional clashes and falls, says it all—Polo undoubtedly is the sport for the strong hearted thrill seekers, not by wealth or privilege but by virtue of playing what is one of the toughest and most dangerous sport in the world.

Delhi’s association with the magnificent game of Polo goes back to the British days when the capital hosted its very first Polo matches. Today, the Polo Season is an annual feature of the Delhi winter calendar. The season of Polo kick starts from the month of November and spans till the end of March This is the time of special extravagance for over two thousand people who either love the majestic game or are lucky to be invited.

Delhi shall be the host of three of the most prestigious Polo events this season — The holy giant of Indian Polo – The Reid & Taylor Indian Open Polo Championship 2011 from 15th to 20th November, 2011, one of the most coveted Titles, patronized by the Scindia Family of Gwalior – H.H. Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup 2012 from 7th to 12th February, 2012 and the highlight of the Spring Season in Delhi – The Indian Masters Polo 2012 from 27th Feb to 4th March, 2012. All three Polo Tournaments to be played at the historic Jaipur Polo Ground (inside Delhi Racecourse) in the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi.
