Argentina beat Ireland to make semifinals of World Cup

Argentina scored two tries in each half to get the better of Ireland 43-20 in a captivating quarterfinal at the 2015 Rugby World Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

The Pumas took early control of the game as they took a quick 20-3 lead after just 22 minutes thanks to two quick tries. The Irish though made a comeback to trail by just three points before Argentina added two more late tries in a scintillating game. The

Pumas led 20-10 at half-time with the early tries from Matias Moroni and Juan Imhoff.The late tries came from full-back Joaquin Tuculet and wing Imhoff again. his second of the match - to round off a stunning victory for Daniel Hourcade's exciting young team.

Fly-half Nicolas Sanchez continued his imperious form, kicking 23 points off his boot.The Pumas got on the board just two minutes into the game when Leonardo Senatore's superb take found Moroni on the right.

And it was down that flank again that Argentina attacked again when Imhoff chased down a kick from Juan Martin Hernandez to touchdown for the second try.

The onslaught claimed another victim as Tommy Bowe had to be wheeled off the pitch on the wagon. Not to be deterred were though the Irish as buoyed by the massive support inside the stadium they rallied.

A yellow card for Ramiro Herrera for a Hugh tackle on Irish fly-half Ian Madigan provided an opening with a lineout just five metres away from the Argentine line.Despite the advantage though, the Irish failed to get over their opponents' line and even conceded a turnover to the Pumas in the process.

On 27 minutes came the Irish try from Luke Fitzgerald to give them a way back into the match.Argentina began the second half much in the same vein as in the first but the Irish stood firm. Fitzgerald broke through once again after two penalties and was able to offload to Jordi Murphy who scored Ireland's second try. With Madigan converting, the deficit had been reduced to just three.

Madigan though would go on to miss a chance to level the scores from a penalty kick. Argentina soon pushed the lead back up to six with a penalty of their own.

That led to the last passage of play where Argentina capitalised on some sustained possession to finally break through and put the game beyond Irish reach with tries from Tuculet and Imhoff.Sanchez was named man-of-the-match.
