TCS World 10K: Carl Lewis, John Abraham, Puneeth Rajkumar, Anju Bobby George and many more come together to celebrate the spirit of Sporting Excellence

There was a star studded, sensational aura surrounding ITC Windsor on Saturday, May 17, 2014, as Kingfisher Premium and Procam International hosted an exhilarating evening with renowned sports champions and actors – ‘Beyond the Finish Line’. The exclusive event hosted for patrons of the World 10K saw ace sportspersons and dignitaries come together and commemorate the spirit of sports.

A star line-up of celebrities also graced the Red Carpet adding to all the razzmatazz, much to the delight of excited onlookers and paparazzi. Olympian and Event Ambassador for TCS World 10K Bangalore - Carl Lewis, popular actors John Abraham and Puneeth Rajkumar along with world renowned sports champions Anju Bobby George, Girisha Hosanagara and Chikkarangappa were seen sharing a light moment with their fans.

Carl Lewis, the legendary athlete, inspired the coterie with his views on running and the adrenalin high that is inseparable from his life. The Red Carpet was ablaze with glamour and style as actors John Abraham and Puneeth Rajkumar strutted over. Impressing the onlookers with their panache, the style mavens explained the relevance of fun yet physically demanding events such as the 10K run on torpid lives. Their entry saw the assembled paparazzi going ballistic as the crowd experienced stardom at extreme close quarters.

On being asked if he had been enjoying the various promotional activities around the event, Carl said, "Oh! I love India, it's been a great experience, I've had a lot of fun doing all the activities. I'm looking forward to a good race."

On being asked about the response to the event, he added, "I think it's amazing that a 10K race has 25,000 people turning up for it. THat's a big number anywhere in the world."

And finally on his role as an ambassador for not just the event, but running on the whole, Carl said, "When I was competing, I was actually really interested in growing our sport. And this seems like a different thing now with the interest in running now as compared to when I made it here last in 1989. There’s now a great running community here and great excitement around it.”
