Get ready for the capital city to be painted Pink!

The Delhi leg of the 2013 Pinkathon International Women’s 10K run takes place tomorrow.

Pinkathon is a first of its kind, all women’s run aimed at encouraging women’s fitness and supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. It is an event organized by two companies – Maximus MICE & Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd. across 10 cities in India. Maximus is an event management company run by model and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman.

There are 3 categories in total in the event – the 10K, 5K and the 3K, which is incidentally called The Pink Ribbon Walk.

The event will be flagged off by actors and fitness enthusiasts Milind Soman and Gul Panag, both of whom are active runners.

HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG), a specialist in cancer care is the main sponsor while Red FM 93.5 is the radio sponsor, Lemon Tree Hotels is the hospitality partner and the Select City Walk mall is the on-ground sponsor.

Earlier this year on April 7, the Bangalore leg of Pinkathon was held and it saw over 3,500 women participating in the event. The organisers are hopeful of receiving more than 4,000 for the Delhi leg.

The first ever Pinkathon was held in Mumbai in the year 2012. Organised primarily as a 10 km run, Pinkathon is now spread across 12 Indian cities, including New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune. More than 6,000 women of all ages and from all walks of life participated in the events in previous editions.
