Double Gold in Womens Double Trap for Madhya Pradesh in Shooting Nationals

New Delhi, December 22, 2015: Madhya Pradesh (M.P) women Double Trap exponents Shalini Yashwant and Manisha Keer ensured both Gold medals for their state in the discipline when they won the senior and junior titles in the 59th National Shooting Championship at the JDA Shooting Range in Jaipur.

Yashwant beat seasoned India internationals Shreyasi Singh of Bihar and Shagun Chowdhary of ONGC, in second and third positions respectively, to win the title. She finished with a score of 89 to Singh’s 86 and Chowdhary’s 85 to turn the tables from last year when she had bagged the silver medal while Chowdhary had won gold and Singh bronze.

In what turned out be double delight for M.P, Manisha Keer won the junior Women’s Double Trap with a score of 80. Aliana Ashim Paul of Maharashtra won silver, shooting a total of 70 while N.Nivetha of Tamil Nadu won bronze with a score of 67.

Madhya Pradesh also won the Women’s Team Double Trap Gold courtesy Keer and Yashwant.

In the Men’s Double Trap, Ahvar Rizvi of Uttar Pradesh (U.P) and Bhowneesh Mendiratta of Haryana (Har) reached both the Men’s and Junior Men’s finals scheduled to be held the next day. Md. Asab (U.P), Ankur Mittal (Har) and Sangram Dahiya (Har) are the Indian international stars who will also feature in the Men’s finals.
