India's Mairaj Ahmad Khan has won the country’s 1st skeet medal at a World Cup, winning the silver medal in the Men’s Skeet event on the final day of the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Rio De Janerio on Sunday.
The 40-year-old shooter finished with an overall tally of 14 in the Gold medal match and lost out to Marcus Svensson of Sweden in the Gold medal match in a shoot off after the latter was also tied at 14.

This is India’s 1st medal at the World Cup, which has come in the final event on the final day of this 12-day event, which is also a test event for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Mairaj qualified for his maiden Olympics in September last year at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup that was held in Lonato in Italy, finishing in 6th place.to seal a berth into Rio 2016,thereby becoming the first Indian to qualify in the skeet event at the Olympics.
