Comments heard on the stump microphone are often fascinating as they give us a sneek-peek into the thoughts process of the players. From harmless banter to fiery exchanges, the stump mic is like the silent observer that makes us witness to everything that is happening out there in the field. We did an earlier story on interesting stump microphone comments. Here are 5 instances interesting comments made by Indian cricketers were heard on the stump mic. Some of them are quite charged up and exciting to say the least. 4 Indian captains make it to the list!

#5 Mohammad Azharuddin taunts Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi is known to rush through his overs while bowling often hurrying the batsman in the process.

In a Sharjah cup India vs Pakistan ODIs in 1996, Afridi was hurrying Azharuddin in the 35th over and not giving him enough time to get ready to face each ball. Azhar with his characteristic smile then told Afridi, "Thoda time de ke daal na baade bhai!" (Brother, give me a little time to get ready before you bowl each delivery). The comment even surprised Afridi and brought a smile to his lips.

#4 Ashish Nehra got angry with Dhoni

One of the most popular but least remembered instances in Indian cricket is that of Ashish Nehra shouting at Dhoni for a dropped catch. The incident happened during the 4th India vs Pakistan ODI at Ahmedabad back in 2005.

Pakistan were chasing 315 for victory when in the 4th over Nehra had angled one away from the batsman and Afridi had ended up slashing hard at it, edging it to the wicket-keeper in the process. But Dhoni failed to hold on to it earning Nehra's ire. A furious Nehra was heard abusing Dhoni and said, "Easy catch nei pakkadte yaar!" (You can't hold on to a easy catch!)

Afridi went on to score a quick fire 40 and Pakistan eventually chased down India's total in that match. A popular joke doing the rounds on the internet says this was the reason Nehra was later dropped from the team after MS Dhoni became the captain.

#3 Sourav Ganguly was upset with an umpire

Sourav Ganguly known to be the one of the most out-spoken Indian captains had got involved his many altercations during his stint as a captain. But he was at his crankiest after he had been dropped from the Indian team in 2005.

During a Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final match during that period when Ganguly was captaining the Bengal team, a string of questionable umpiring decisions left him incensed. When a caught appeal was turned down, Ganguly screamed at the umpire, "Arre bat se laag ke upar gaya!" (The ball went up after touching the bat) Ganguly kept repeating his conviction almost trying to intimidate the umpires into giving the batsman out.

Ganguly did not relent and after the match he cried at the umpires: "Out nei deta hai, uske upar excuse deta haai!" (You don't give the batsman out when you are supposed to and on top of that, you are giving excuses!). That was a true example of dadagiri if ever there was one.

#2 Virat Kohli\'s conversation with Steve Smith

During the 2014-15 Test series Down Under, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were heard getting involved in a heated discussion with Steve Smith and David Warner. Rohit Sharma who was bowling to Steve Smith made an ambitious appeal for lbw which clearly angered Smith.

Smith had a few things to say and Sharma stopped in his tracks shouting "What?" This is when Kohli intervened and his comments heard on the stump mic were fiery to say the least. "You got an issue with everyone?" cried Kohli, "Stay in your shoes. I can sort you out." Even as the non-striker Warner joined the altercation, Kohli continued, "He is ****ing telling me to shut up! Don't mess around with your team-mate's' support. Stay in your limits, don't ask me to leave."

Smith went on blabbering even as he completed the single off the next ball which prompted Rohit Sharma to lash out at him now. "Come on," cried Sharma, "I'm talking to him [the umpire]. Why are you reacting?"

#1 MS Dhoni agitated with his own team-mates

When it comes to making innovative comments from behind the stumps, MS Dhoni simply has to be the king. Dhoni knows how to keep the team going with his wry humour when they are down in their dumps.

He seems to be at his chirpiest when Jadeja is bowling as his evident from his comments, "Ye ghoomega toh Pujara ko isiliye idhar rakha hai, voh udhar taali bajaane ke liye nahi hai" (I have kept Pujara there expecting the ball to turn. He is not there only for clapping) or "Dheere daal d eke, chakka kha ke dikha" (Give more flight and show me that you can be hit for a six).

Or even his mild admonishment to Sreesanth while adjusting his fielding position : "Oye Sree, udhaar girlfriend nei haai, idhar aja thora". (Sree, your girlfriend isn't over there. Move a little bit to this side.) But his comment about Ian Bell - "Ghanti bajaao iski" (Ring his bell) - has to take the cake.
