#1 Sanjay Bangar

Many know Bangar as the face behind Kings XI Punjab’s successful 2014 season. The 41-year-old was trusted with the role of picking his players in the auction table that proved to be the cornerstone for the franchise’s first appearance in an IPL final in 7 attempts. Bangar, the most low-profile coach among other IPL coaches, earned the respect and appreciation of his players very soon in the Kings XI Punjab. Apart from helping seniors like Virender Sehwag discover their game, plenty of youngsters like Akshar Patel and Sandeep Sharma shone with his backing.

Bangar’s coaching career began with India A in 2013. After deciding to hang up his boots from all forms of cricket, the Maharashtra-born took charge of the A side soon after his stint as a player. He was a vital member of Railways’ title winning run in 2001-02 and 2004-05. He is only the second cricketer to complete the double of 6000 runs and 200 wickets in Ranji matches after Vijay Hazare.

The right hander with 12 Test and 15 ODI caps was also part of India’s 2003 World Cup run where they failed against the Australians.

#2 Bharat Arun

A right-arm pacer, Bharat Arun represented India in 2 Tests and 4 ODI matches between 1986-87. The Vijayawada-born played for Tamil Nadu in the domestic tournaments and was instrumental in his side’s Ranji triumph in 1987-88.

The 51-year-old was also an useful batsman in the lower order and has 4 centuries in first class matches. He was incharge of India’s Under-19 team that won the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2012. He also presided over the 2014 version of the tournament in which India lost in the quarter finals.

His experiences of coaching in important tournaments will come in handy with Indian team.

#3 Ramakrishnan Sridhar

The fielding coach of Kings XI Punjab for the 2014 season was recently appointed as the head coach of Andhra Ranji team. The 44-year-old has played 35 first class matches and has taken 91 wickets with his left-arm spin for Hyderabad.

He previously worked with the Indian senior side in 2011, helping them out with their preparations for the World Cup at home. He is currently incharge of the National Cricket Academy, assisting the players with their fielding. The Mysore-born was also part of the Under-19 coaching staff in 2012 where Unmukt Chand’s men lifted the trophy in Australia.

Interestingly, the coach tweeted on India’s poor show in England Tests as: ”Waiting for the misery to get over”. Another tweet read: “Time to move on..!! #lookingahead”. He might not have known that India will be looking up to him to change those situations.
