FIFA 15 vs PES 15: 5 key aspects that will decide the war

The two footballing game giants go head to head once again in the latest releases of their popular franchises, that is FIFA 15 and PES 15. There have been a lot of enhancements in both the games since the last few years that include visuals, gameplay and much more. Due to lack of licenses, PES and Konami has been losing the war against FIFA and Electronic Arts for couple of years now. The new trailers of both the games boast of a next-gen gameplay and amazing graphics which take football gaming to a whole new level. Here are 5 key aspects that we presume willdecide which is the better game between FIFA 15 and PES 15:

#5 Online mode

Konami has introduced a new mode to the already present Master League mode. The Master League has been redesigned and made into MyClub which is similar to that of FIFA’s Ultimate Team. The MyClub is available both in the online and offline game. As per sources, it is said that a new agent will be present to negotiate the transfers and to solve problems within your team. If a new coach is bought, the team goes as per his tactics.

EA has replied to Konami’s feature by enhancing the Ultimate Team on FIFA 15. Some of the features like concept squads allows you to build a very strong squads for the future by letting you plan on whom to buy for the next transfer market, and also testing out the Chemistry combination between the players. Additionaly, a new section called Friendly season which allows you to battle it out with your friends in a fan favourite season format that also lets you check your stats. More number of legends on the Xbox version of the game and the ability to loan big players add to the Ultimate Team features.

#4 Licenses

The aspect of “Licenses” has always been Konami’s drawback. There are certain patches and DLC’s that can be added to the game but the patches too eat too much space on your computer or the console. In PES 2015, the Premier League still remains unlicensed along with so many other leagues which include the Portugese league and even the Bundesliga. The French League and the Spanish league remain fully licensed in PES 2015.

The major part where FIFA 15 wins over PES 2015. FIFA 15 has had almost all the leagues. The Brazilian league will not be featured in FIFA 15 this time because of some flaws in the agreement. Turkish league, Super Lig will be included to the already present leagues which makes the game more interesting. It is said that all the 20 Premier League stadiums in FIFA 15 have been licensed which takes the game to a whole new level.

#3 Graphics

Although PES 2014’s graphics for a certain set of players were questionable as they looked more like the players’ lookalikes, instead of them, the overall player faces and stadiums are emulated with much more details and lifelike than that of FIFA.

PES 2015 may win this war against FIFA because of it’s lifelike graphics. In the trailers of both the games we witnessed lifelike graphics. PES 2015’s presentation of players and the crowd in the stadium is not very impressive although some of the visuals of the players are lifelike. FIFA’s crowd and presentation of the players on the field has been superb, however then again EA are known to be repetitive with their games, and nothing much could be expected just by looking at the trailers. The visuals in FIFA 15 may look appealing as of now, but the depth and detail in PES 2015 is what wins Konami the round.

#2 Goalkeepers

youtube-cover

Goakeepers were the major flaw in FIFA 14 with too many glitches, and in necessary need to be improved. In a press conference, EA boasted of its next-gen goalkeeping while a footage displaying Tim Howard’s skills were shown in the EA website.

In FIFA 2014, you would often see computer AI interfering with your game tactic, and unless you take control of the keeper yourself, the computer AI would make the goalkeeper wandering off when catching the ball would have been considered a more viable and safe approach, and vice versa.

However, in FIFA 15, the Next Gen Goalkeepers have been completely rewritten with over 50 new save animations, improved AI and a new, realistic player model.

In the previous PES versions, goalkeeping was hardly an issue. Konami’s new engine called the ‘Fox Engine’ has been enabled in PES 2015 takes goalkeeping to a whole new level, and goalkeepers will now expected to be even more better than in the previous PES versions. So, PES is getting the point in this round, unless EA’s next Gen Goalkeepers is a big improvement from the previous one.

#1 Gameplay

EA has introduced the Ignite engine for PC, PS4 and the Xbox 360. This engine enhances the gameplay of the FIFA 15 game to the next level. The passing of the ball and the fluidity of the game in FIFA 15 has been enhanced. There also a few more additions such as emotionality where the player cries if he is injured or when he misses an open chance and the crowd boos at him.

PES 2015’s new engine called ‘Fox Engine‘ has also made the game much better to play. The game’s flow is smooth and is taken to the next-gen level. Few glitches like shooting time and passing accuracy have been fixed in Konami’s PES 2015.

However, the main question is which game has the better gameplay? Having played the 2014 versions of both the games, my opinions might be slightly inclined towards FIFA over PES with smooth gameplay and realistic reactions being the two primary reasons. Although, the AI in FIFA is impleted a bit too much, restricting the choices that users make. For example, instead of passing where you intended to in the first play, the AI might pass it into a different direction. If this glitch is rectified in this year’s FIFA installment, expect PES to taste defeat once again.
