Dani Alves FIFA 16

Dani Alves is a three-time winner of the Champions League with Barcelona. He is an instrumental member of the squad whose style of attacking play gives the much-needed support to the forwards in the final third of the pitch.

He has been able to hold down a regular starting spot in Barcelona’s current line-up, despite his ever growing age. He has been hailed as the most creative full-backs in Europe since he made his debut for Sevilla.

Alves did not score a single goal for Barcelona last season but made 6 assists in La Liga, 4 assists in the Champions League and 2 assists in Copa Del Rey – a total of 12 assists in the whole season – quite an achievement for a right back.

#6 Gerard Pique - 85

Gerard Pique

Gerard Pique is only the fourth player in the history of the game to have won two Champions League titles in a row with two different teams (Manchester United and Barcelona). The centre-back is a tactically versatile player, who is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder and also occasionally advancing into more offensive positions, as well as being a competent defender.

The 28-year old defender scored a total of 7 goals in the 2014/15 season, which is a very high goal tally when you consider that he is a centre-back. He was also named in the UEFA Champions League team of the season alongside his teammates Messi, Neymar and Iniesta.

#5 Sergio Busquets - 86

Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets was one of the most impressive defensive midfielders in Europe last season. He provided an extra layer of defence ahead of Barca’s defensive back line and contributed a lot in stopping the opposition’s attacks.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder became a consistent name on the Barca's team sheet that won the treble in the 2014/15 season. Due to his vision, ball control, and accurate passing ability, he rarely loses possession and alongside Ivan Rakitic and Iniesta he plays an important role in setting his team's tempo in midfield through his fast passing game.

The 23-year old striker also captained the Brazil National team in the 2015 Copa America but missed the latter part of the tournament because of a 4-match suspension after a red card in the match against Colombia.

#2 Luis Suarez - 90

Luis Suarez

At the start of the 2014/15 season, Luis Suarez arrived at Camp Nou after having signed a 5-year contract with the Bluagranas for a reported fee of around £75 million. It made him the most expensive player in the club’s history.

After having missed the start of the season due to his ban imposed by FIFA, Suarez made his debut for Barcelona in an El Clasico away at Real Madrid. He made an instant impact as he assisted the opening goal of the match for Neymar, though Barca lost the match 1-3.

He also scored the second goal for Barcelona in the Champions League final against Juventus and helped Barcelona to clinch the trophy as well as the treble. Suarez ended his 2014/15 season with 25 goals and 25 assists in all competitions and the trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez scored a total of 122 goals, highest by any Europian team’s forward line.

#1 Lionel Messi - 94

Lionel Messi

With 58 goals and 28 assists to his name, Lionel Messi was the most successful player on the planet last season. The little maestro’s performance was the primary reason for Barcelona winning the treble for the second time in their history.

He scored his 32nd hat-trick against Rayo Vallecano last season, making him the player with most hat-tricks ever in Spanish Football. With the help of Messi’s 43 goals and 18 assists, Barcelona clinched the La Liga title in May after beating Athletico Madrid 1-0 with Messi scoring the winner.

Messi scored twice in the Copa Del Ray final to help Barcelona bag their second title of the season and their sixth double overall. His opening goal though was hailed as one of the greatest in his career as he took the ball near the half-way line and went on to score the goal from a tight angle.

For his overall contribution to the game of football in Europe, he was adjudged as the UEFA Best player in Europe for the second time in his career.
