10 superstar player faces that need to be fixed in FIFA 16

Every year come September, American video game developer EA Sports never ceases to amaze us with the latest installment of its iconic FIFA series which never fails to outdo its predecessor. From improved graphics, realistic player emotions, actual sponsors to the phenomenally successful Ultimate Team, the FIFA series has brought something new to the table with every release. However, despite all the amazing improvements EA still haven’t quite managed to get the likenesses of some footballers right, with many superstar players looking like their spitting images on FIFA 15. Hopefully, we’ll get to see better player likenesses in FIFA 16, but until then let’s have a look at 10 superstar player faces that need to be fixed in FIFA 16.

#1 Mesut Ozil

EA have done a really shabby job with Mesut Ozil’s face in FIFA 15, which is extremely shocking for a player of his stature. The German’s face is a bit too pale and lifeless in the game and looks like something that should belong in The Walking Dead and not the FIFA series. I sincerely hope EA make full use of their brilliant graphic designers and give Ozil a facelift (No pun intended) in FIFA 16 for everyone’s sake.

#2 Neymar

EA Sports should have really given more attention to detail when they set out to craft the face of one of the best players in the world on FIFA 15. Neymar is one player who really loves his face, his Instagram account which is flooded with countless selfies is concrete proof of that, and surely must be heartbroken to see that EA have produced a less than perfect finished product on FIFA 15. I suggest EA take a page out of Konami’s book and sculpt the Brazilian’s face just as excellently as their Japanese competitor this time around.

#3 Andrea Pirlo

If there was one player’s likeness in FIFA 15 that disappointed me immensely it was that of Andrea Pirlo. The midfield maverick, who will undoubtedly go down as one of the best players in his position, was given an extremely shoddy likeness in FIFA 15. Pirlo’s distinctive hair and beard which have earned him comparisons to Jesus Christ is designed extremely shabbily in FIFA 15, so much so that one could easily mistake him for a caveman from the Stone Age instead of the player we know and love. I sincerely hope EA do a better job with his likeness in FIFA 16 as it’ll most likely be his last appearance in the series.

#4 Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan has one of the most recognizable mugs in world football due to the use of his feet as well as his mouth, and his likeness in FIFA 15 doesn’t quite do him justice. His stubble just isn’t as dense as it is in real life on the game and his features could do with some more sharpening. I for one would love to see some improvements to Suarez in FIFA 16 as I’m quite sure I’ll be using him just as often as I have been using him in 15.

#5 Gareth Bale

Okay let me be honest – EA haven’t done a bad job with Bale’s likeness of FIFA 15 however there are still a few minor flaws that could do with some ironing out on FIFA 16. The Welshman’s features definitely need to be sharpened a bit more due to the fact that he’s one of the football’s best looking players as well as his hairstyle which is a bit more jazzed up then the one shown on the game – not to mention that distinctive headband he now wears. Once that’s sorted out then he’ll be a real work of art on the game.

#6 James Rodriguez

Okay. I’m sure you see the vast improvement EA Sports has made to James’ face since FIFA 14, however I feel they haven’t quite hit the mark yet, leaving the door open for improvement. I’d say FIFA have only captured 80% of James’ likeness in the game and could a bit of feature sharpening as well as a slight tweak in his hairstyle in the game could go a long way. In fact, PES have captured the Columbian’s likeness almost flawlessly and FIFA could do well by aping their competitors version of the player a bit.

#7 Daley Blind

Blind is one of the Premier League’s most recognizable players and EA will do well to remember that before they design his likeness for the upcoming game. First of all his distinctive hair is not portrayed properly at all in the game and neither is his stubble. In fact the Dutchman looks like a completely different player in the game. If there’s a face that needs improving in FIFA 16 then Blind’s should be at the top of the list.

#8 Robbie Keane

Alright Keane may not fulfil everyone’s definition of a superstar, but to me he’ll always be one of the Premier League’s most gifted as well as underrated strikers. The Irishman’s likeness in FIFA 15 isn’t even close to what he looks like in real life and needs to be rigorously reworked in the next game. It’s really pitiful that EA didn’t make more of an effort to improve Keane’s likeness in the game considering his popularity in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Let’s hope he gets a better deal in the next game.

#9 Thomas Muller

The young German, who was an integral part of Germany’s victorious World Cup campaign and one of the tournaments best players, should have really gotten a better likeness in FIFA 15. EA Sports really did a shoddy job when it came to designing Muller in the game, and their version of the player truly looks like he’s high on something. I sincerely hope one of my favourite players gets a more realistic likeness next time around.

#10 Harry Kane

Okay, you can’t really blame EA Sports for this one due to the fact that most of Kane’s appearances last season, during which FIFA 15 was developed, were from the substitutes bench which deprived him from attaining as much fame as he has this season. However now that Kane’s one of the poster boys of the Premier League, EA will have to put their graphic designers skills to the limit when they set out to design his likeness for FIFA 16. I for one cannot wait to see the finished product.
